A new and exciting international violin competition for 18-30 year olds, of any nationality.
The Aim: to provide a launching pad for a winner who is not only an outstanding violinist, but also an exceptional musician, and to provide a formative learning experience for all competitors.
Highlights will include:
Young competitors from around the world playing before a panel of judges of international renown, including Wen Zhou Li, Zhi Nuo Ding, Mauricio Fuks, Ivry Gitlis, Yair Kless, Herman Krebbers, Victor Pikayzen, Kazuki Sawa and Yossi Zivoni, plus leaders of the North’s regional orchestras and Malcolm Layfield, the Competition's Executive Director and Head of School of Strings at the Royal Northern College of Music.
All competitors will have the opportunity to take part in masterclasses with members of the jury, RNCM international tutors and visiting artists, to include Leland Chen, Tasmin Little, Maciej Rakowski and Yuri Torchinsky.
Finalists will play with the BBC Philharmonic for substantial cash prizes, the loan of a fine violin from J & A Beare & Sons, a recording contract and a series of prestigious engagements.
